Slot Canyons Workshop Pictures

My California Slot Canyons Workshop in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park held this past Saturday went great! The temperatures were warm but the crowds were gone and we had the canyons virtually to ourselves! Here are my pictures from the day:

By the time we made it to Palm Slot, the light was fading. To add a little more interest to the bland lighting of the canyon, I used a wirelessly-triggered strobe bounced off the canyon wall with a CTO gel on it and my camera set to tungsten white balance. This created deep blue shadows with a contrasting warm light. The last one in this series is my personal favorite from the day.

As usual, Iíd like to thank all of my students for attending! You guys were a pleasure to work with and I hope you all learned something new from this workshop!

Sep 5th Crystal Cove Workshop Results

We had another great workshop at Crystal Cove State Park this past Saturday! The sunset wasn't anything to get excited about, but the pictures were good nonetheless. Here are a couple of my pictures from the night. They both have a similar theme with the diagonally-oriented rock formations, but I liked them both so here you go!

Once again I'd like to thank all of my students for attending! You guys were great and I hope you all learned something new from this workshop!

Aug 29th Crystal Cove Workshop Results

Had another great workshop last Saturday, August 29th at Crystal Cove State Park! The wildfires up in LA county helped to create an exceptionally red sunset that proved to be great for pictures! Although such wildfires aren't good news by any stretch, there is at least one upside for us sunset photographers.

Here are 3 of my shots from the evening. I think they turned out okay...not my best work, but I'm proud of them nevertheless.

Had to get a shot of one of our attendees taking a picture (thanks, Ryan!).

I had a really fun time on this workshop and I want to thank all of my students for coming - you guys were a great group!

Due to the popularity of the Sunset in Crystal Cove Workshop, I have added two additional dates before the end of the year. One of them is this Saturday, September 5th and is filling up fast! Get information about it and reserve your spot today by going here!
