Sunset in Crystal Cove
Crystal Cove State Park, CA

Crystal Cove Workshop
April 10, 2010 (4:45pm - 7:45pm)

Workshop Description:
One of Nick Carver’s favorite locations to shoot in Orange County, the beaches of Crystal Cove State Park feature a multitude of interesting rock formations, tide pools and seaside cliffs that will make any landscape photographer itchy in the shutter finger. Join this Outdoor Photographer published photographer and writer and discover how he gets the perfect landscape shot at this beautiful Orange County beach. This single-evening workshop is Nick Carver's most popular and is perfect for Southern California residents and visitors that are looking for a great way to spend a sunset in the OC while learning some amazing new pro photography tips. See more images from this location.

What You'll Learn:
How to manually expose for the landscape, what filters to use and how to use them, tips on composition, how to predict conditions and more.

What to Expect and What Not to Expect:
Be prepared for mild hiking/walking down to and along the beach. There will be sea spray to contend with (bring lens cloths), warm temperatures in the summer and cold temperatures in the fall, winter and spring. We will not be covering image review or digital workflow. A park entry fee of $15 (in cash) will be required. Tuition does not include travel, accomodations or food. Space is limited to 10 students.

Recommended For:
Photographers of all skill levels interested in landscapes and seascapes. You must have an SLR camera (digital strongly recommended) and a basic understanding of shutter speed, aperture and ISO. This workshop is for those who have at least a rudimentary understanding of their camera and want to take their images to the next level. If you are uncertain whether or not this workshop is for you, please email Nick Carver at the address below.

Recommended Equipment and Supplies:
An SLR camera (required), wide-angle lens or wide-angle zoom, split neutral density filters (if you have them already), a tripod, water, a jacket or sweater.

Tuition: $275 $75
